Battle of the Sexes Round 3

0
0

Round 3 is here and two undefeated greyhounds are ready for another go. One male, Watch Me, and one female, Lorine of Ruckus, look to continue their streaks as some talented fields look to end them. All four races return for this round and the top 8 greyhounds in each the male and female division will move on to the semi-finals. Let’s look at the races and see if we can start off your week on the right foot.

Round 3 of the Battle of the Sexes

Monday evening June 19th, 2017

Race 7 – Post should be everything to Ww Next Bigthing in this effort. After a close 2nd in round 1, and a roughed up 5th in round 2, he needs a big-time effort here if he wants to move on in the stakes. Helping him out is the 8 box. Last time from this post, nothing much, just a win in the finals of the puppy stakes. Look for a big effort, and a win, tonight. Setting the pace on the inside part of the racetrack should be Flyin Kryptonite and Ln Michaels. Both greyhounds have the chops to see the front end in this effort, but both can be short late and run down in the stretch. Exactly what I think is going to happen in this effort. Late you need to consider Pat C Hash Tag as well. Posted well, he will flourish from the rail where he was 3rd in the finals of the puppy stakes from this very same 1 box. (8-3-1-2)

Race 9 – Lorine Of Ruckus looks to keep the sheet clean in this effort, but she might just have to come from off the pace to get it done. We all know that Cj’s Sadie will be taking the early lead, especially from the 1 box, but late she will be short as she almost always is. Neither of them will be alone though. Upstart Ww Mind At Rest is loving the new racetrack and has been in the quiniela in 6 straight races. Runner-up in 4 straight, looks like the trend might continue in this effort. Look for Sadie to get run down late by Lorine and for Ww Mind At Rest to be right there as well. Another greyhound to consider in this effort will be Perfect Pitch. This stalking threat is posted well and has been in the money in 5 of her last 6 efforts. Winning might be a stretch, but under on your bets, should be a good place to play her. (6-3-1-7)

Race 10 – Back on track, Hey Hey Daddy posted up a big win in round number 2 and looks to keep the trend going in this effort. Amongst a tough field, Daddy will need to work hard, but has several things going for her. She loves the post, she can win with or without the early lead, and she has 3 victories in her last 4 efforts. Look for another strong finish and for her to get it done once again. Trying to ruin her day, the resurging threat Boc’s Queen Lady. This Ironhound winner is no stranger to stakes races and shines brightest when the big lights are on. Posted well on the inside part of the racetrack, she need to keep breaking and rushing hard early if she is going to be a threat again here. Coming out of her funk in a big way, tonight she could be upset minded. Others not to ignore include the always trying threat Pat C Cozy, who needs to improve on that pair of 4th place efforts, and Ww Lemon Mint, who needs to stay out of trouble and get back to doing what she does best, stalking and threatening paces. (6-2-8-4)

Race 11 – One last race and another victory from Watch Me. With 6 wins in a row, you cannot pick against this greyhound. He is firing on all cylinders right now, and is using his early speed to his advantage. He even outrushed Ln Michaels to the lead in the last race, and for those of you that follow us, you know that was not an easy task. I look for him to come out close, rush to control, and survive late for his 7th in a row. Providing the late challenge will be the resurging Dutch Double. Double is as fast as he wants to be, and when he gets loose, he can run down almost anyone at the racetrack. His last race was a huge win and his time was 4 lengths faster than Watch Me’s on the same track. The post is not the best, but if he can follow the speed to the turn and stalk the pace early, he will make it interesting at the finish line. Others to consider here are Bang Ludwig from his best box, you know the one where he ran 30.25 and won by 8, and Ww Jackpot. This closer has been a threat in 5 of 6 races and has been just off the win in both rounds of the stakes so far. If either of these greyhounds decides to break, they might play a bigger role in the outcome of this effort. (6-5-8-4)

The Mighty Have Fallen

In the third round of the 2017 Battle of the Sexes, two favorites won their races, but neither of them were the undefeated greyhounds that headed into battle. Both of the mighty have fallen, and now with the points fanning out, it is going to be interesting to see just who moves on the semi-finals on this race.

Showing the rest how things should be done was the surprise winner Bang Ludwig in the 11th race on the card. This greyhound out of the promising sire, Sh Avatar, loves the outside post positions and runs his best when he can start on the wide side. Here the 8 box was his best friend as he ran a monster race, the fastest of all in qualifying, and took down the undefeated 6 race in a row winner Watch Me in the process. Early it was all Watch Me. As expected he went straight to the lead from the starting box, but that was going to be short lived. By the backside, the stalking threat Bang Ludwig had already made a move and at the far turn he was easily in front of the streaking champ by 2 lengths. Down the stretch he found his crescendo as he padded his margin to 5 at the wire in 30.48 seconds. Watch Me finished a distance place as Gs Humongous won the long show battle over Jack’s War Hero at the finish line.

Putting up back to back wins on the evening and solidifying herself as one of the greyhound to beat in this stake was Hey Hey Daddy. Finding her break again in the 10th race on the card, Daddy was stalking the leader from the break, outrushed the rest, and took over command at the first turn. From that moment on, this race just got UGLY! Padding her 3.5 length lead to 7 full lengths by the far turn, she was in complete control and maintained that huge margin all the way to the finish line. Stopping the clock in a blistering 30.55 second, Daddy is back! Chasing the pace all the way around the racetrack was Ironhound champ, Boc’s Queen Lady. Gradually gaining to the wire was Ln Lola in third and She’s A Mystery in fourth.

Another big name and another big effort came your way in the 7th as puppy stakes winner, WW Next Bigthing did what he needed to do to get the W at the finish line. Normally a front running winner, Next Bigthing showed some good versatility in this effort as he had to come from a big off the pace to get things done. Early it was Ln Michaels who found his break and took over early command of this one. Setting the pace to the stretch, he held tough a half a length ahead of Bigthing, but in the end, he would not have enough in the stretch to hold on for the win. Next Bigthing found another gear and surge by late, but it was not an easy victory. Huge closer, and mostly distance racer, Atascocita Danty came from off the pace to challenge at the wire as well. When the smoke cleared, Ww Next Bigthing was a neck better than Danty at the wire. Michaels settled for show as Pat C Hash Tag gave an even effort in 4th.

The other upset came in the 9th race on the card as Lorine of Ruckus was outbroke and outlasted for the win. Popping the box was the former puppy stakes champion, Pullanallnighter. Channeling her old self, she exploded to the front end and stole away 2.5 lengths early on the rest of the field. Right in her hip pocket was the copycat Ww’s Lost Girl. Another early speeder who has been off her game for a long time, she too found her break and was going to make it interesting all the way to the wire. This dynamic duo battled it out up front and in the end, Pullanallnighter would need every inch she got at the start of this effort. By the far turn the lead had dwindled down to a length and a half, and down the stretch, it shrank even more. At the wire Pullanallnighter managed to stay off her challengers and hold on for the length win. Ww’s Lost Girl gave all she had but came up just short in this effort. Undefeated Lorine Of Ruckus making up ground throughout and was right in the mix at the finish line, along with Pitch Perfect, who came from even further back to throw her hat into the ring in the deep stretch.

The semi-finals of the Battle of the Sexes race will take place on Saturday evening June 24th at bestbet Jacksonville. Two races will be on the card, one with the top 8 females remaining, and one with the top 8 males remaining. The points don’t matter anymore as the top 4 finishers in each race will move on to the finals on Saturday evening July 1st in the 11th race on the card. Semi-Finals of the 2017 Battle of the Sexes

Saturday evening, June 24th, 2017

Race 7 – Up first is the MALE race in the semi-finals, and is this one going to be a doozy. Clearly the greyhound to beat to the lead here again is Watch Me. Previous he has won 6 races in a row and was the early leader last time out before being passed and settling for second. Here he gets the 1 box, which he loves, and no other greyhounds in the vicinity that can break at all. This is going to look like a false start, as I expect him to steal a huge early lead on this field. Late he will need every inch of it though as the closers will be coming. The closest threat early, and for most of this effort, will be puppy stakes winner Ww Next Bigthing. Posted well outside, he is probably the 2nd best breaker in the bunch and should be chasing the pace throughout. No doubt he will be closing a bit late, just like he did last time out, but I don’t know if he can get by for the big time W or not. It is going to come down to a close finish and it might just swing in his favor at the line if everything goes right. Hard to ignore the last effort from Bang Ludwig. This only outside runner make the most of the 8 box and left Watch Me, and his 6-race win streak, in the dust in the stretch. Drawing away for fun. Bang Ludwig, show just what he can do when he wants to run. Posted on the outside again tonight, he could pull off another upset, but to do it in back to back races would be a surprise. I do expect him to close and factor in the stretch again here. Dutch Double is the last greyhound we will look at, and he too could take home the win tonight if he wants to run. He has gears to burn in the stretch, but getting out around the leader is really what he needs to do. The post is fine, he won 2 races back from next door, the real question is, does he want it or not? He hardly ever runs 2 off races in a row, so, watch out for him somewhere in the mix tonight. (1-7-3-6)

Race 11 – What the MALE race lacked in early speed, the FEMALE race more than makes up for it. When I say there is a ton of early speed here, I mean a full 2000 pounds of it. Almost any greyhound here could make the lead and turn this race on its head. Ok, so I know who I think is going to make the front end, the best breaker at the racetrack, Cj’s Sadie, but she got beat to the lead in the last race, and that came from a greyhound that is in this race as well. Back to back, no one gets her twice, and tonight I think the post is more in her favor as well. I expect to see her in front early on, but as normal, she will be no match for the big names coming home. And if you are looking for big names, well we have them too. Two stakes winners and a greyhound that won the first two rounds of this stakes event. Sprint Classic winner, Hey Hey Daddy, is the one to beat in this effort. No greyhound in the stakes is hotter, she has won her last 2 races in a row, and no greyhound in this field has the gears that she has at her disposable. She might not make the lead, but late she will be determined and get the hat trick in this effort. Providing much of the challenge should be Lorine Of Ruckus. This girl is no stranger to winner, undefeated through 2 rounds, and 4 big time w’s in her last 6 efforts. She breaks well, likes the post, and will push the pace and challenge for the win from box to wire in this effort. If that was enough, how about Ironhound winner Boc’s Queen Lady too? This greyhound always shines brightest in the spotlight of the stakes, and with 3 efforts in a row in the quiniela, including a win in round 1, she must be considered a threat once again in this effort. She likes the inside, gets a good post, and will be in the mix as well. Remember she is not short, can win at 550, 660, and 770 yards, so everyone better be wary of her in this race. Sadie will get back up late and finish somewhere behind this tremendous trio. (7-8-2-4)

The finals of this event will take place on Saturday evening July 1st at bestbet Jacksonville. Not only will be have the finals of this race, our POPULAR greyhound BINGO will be going on, where almost everyone is a winner! Battle of the Sexes Final

Another great stake event at bestbet Jacksonville is upon us! The 2017 edition of the Battle of the Sexes will take place on Saturday evening July 1st in the 11th race on the card. It will be the top 4 Females vs. the top 4 Males in this contest, but it won’t be the only attraction on the card. Saturday will kick off our 2nd Double Quiniela wager, that comes in race 4 and 5 in addition to the normal one in races 14 and 15, and you know we will be offering our fan favorite greyhound BINGO and 2nd chance drawings for this special night. So, don’t be left out in the cold! Make your plans and get your reservations early as this place is going to be packed!
Let’s take a closer look at our contestants and see if we can get you cashing some tickets in the finals of the 2017 Battle of the Sexes!

1. Boc’s Queen Lady (Kc And All – Boc’s Snow Queen) this Ironhound Stakes winner can get it done over any distance and is best when the lights are shining brightest. Ideal post, can close, must break and be in the conversation early on if she wants to contend for another title.

2. Flyin Kryptonite (Flying Titanium – Flying Zinc) is an early speed monster that can wire fields for fun when he can get his nose in front. Stepped up when needed and secured a spot in the finals after back to back out of the money efforts. Must break to have a chance here.

3. Ww Mind At Rest (Pat C Clement – Ww’s Death Row) is a monster puppy that is getting better with every start. IN 12 career trips, she has been in the quiniela 9 times, including a big time win in the semi-finals. A stalking threat, she should be a force throughout once again.

4. Cj’s Sadie (Flying Coal City – Gretchen Oswalt) is the best breaker at the racetrack when she is on, but holding on late to score W’s has always been her weakness. She is short late, but could see the lead once again in this effort. Can she steal enough to hold on in the money?

5. Watch Me (Flying Coal City – Barts Anxious) had won 6 straight races before surrendering late in back to back trips. He might be the only one that can beat Sadie to the turn here, and he will need it if he wants to get back winning. The current class of the field, if he is on, he wins.

6. Ww Jackpot (Kc And All – Kiowa Ww Kitty) Squeaked his way into the finals with a 4th place effort last time out. This consistent chaser has a bit of a close to him on occasion, but is really overmatched in this final. If he is going to pull off the upset, he needs the planets to be aligned.

7. Ww Next Bigthing (Bella Infrared – Wwk Big Money) was the recent puppy stakes winner and he is looking for another title in this one. Posted well, he is a threat early and late, and once he gets his nose in front, he is almost unbeatable. He has the tools, back to back could happen.

8. Pullanallnighter (Kc And All – Rain Over Me) was also a puppy stakes winner, but that was over a year ago. She has found some fresh legs in these rounds and the return of her big breaking ability has been a difference maker for her. If she makes the most of the post, maybe a winner!
Now for how this race is going to shake out on Saturday evening July 1st at bestbet Jacksonville.

The lure will come flying by the box and when he opens it is going to be an all-out battle, not only of the Sexes, but for the early lead in this effort. For sure Cj’s Sadie and Watch Me should be leading the way from the middle of the racetrack, but Ww Next Bigthing and Pullanallnighter from the outside, and Flyin Kryptonite, from the inside, will be right there too. As the drive up the front stretch. Watch Me should put his nose in front and take over control of this effort. Sadie will be chasing as Next Bigthing finds room to rush wide, as Flying Kryptonite moves up the rail and is just off the leaders. Stalking that pace is the rest of the field, but it is at the turn where we see things start to happen. As they round the bend and come into the backside. Watch Me has separated from the rest and is starting to breeze in the open air up front. Sadie, after being passes is already started to drift back as Ww Next Bigthing and Flying Kryptonite chase the pace set by the leader. Boc’s Queen Lady saves ground on the rail and hugs around the normal bump and grind that is going on in the turn. Watch Me continues to the far turn on the lead, but the lengths are getting shorter as the fields is catching up. By the stretch call it is down to just a length of so, and it is going to be an interesting run for the title. Down the stretch they run and it will be an all-out BATTLE for the win! Watch Me digs in deep and makes them all work hard, but the chasers are not retreating. Next Bigthing is closing with every stride as Flying Kryptonite tries to hold ground over the gaining Boc’s Queen Lady on the rail. Down to the final few stride and it is too close to call as they all hit the wire in a heated battle. When the smoke clears, Ww Next Bigthing proves best as Watch Me gets edged out late once again. Flyin Kryptonite is just off in third as Boc’s Queen Lady gave her all late, but just managed the final spot in the superfecta. (7-5-2-1)

Weekend Feature Races

Another great weekend of greyhound racing is upon us with loads of talent on tap. We have several top-grade events over 550 and 660 yards to watch and wager on, so let’s see if we can get you cashing some tickets this weekend at bestbet Jacksonville. Don’t forget that we are still in the midst of our great greyhound summer promotion that offers up great promotions all week long.

Friday evening July 7th, 2017

Race 7 – Starting off with a bang over 660, the closing threat Dutch Casey is looking for back to back wins. Post could be an issue of him here, but if he can make it through early on, he will be tough to deny late. Rising star Tmc’s Sweet Kate could also throw her hat into the ring in her very first grade A race. With 5 straight in the money finishes, including a pair of wins, she can get it done, and late she has the same gears as Casey! Watch out! Early, Cbj Sassafras should set the pace from the red box, but he is short late and will surrender. Don’t overlook the newcomer either. Pat C ZZ Top seems to like the route and will be flying up late to challenge. (4-3-1-8)

Race 10 – Puppy power rules in this race as all the youngsters are tearing up the racetrack. Locokristoff has taken the racetrack by storm and has posted up0 wins in half of his 16 official starts. Winning 3 of his last 6, he should stalk early, and shake loose late for the W. Trying to ruin his day, and make him work for the win, will be the all revved up runner, Kells Ferrari. Firing on all cylinders now, this late driving threat, who has won 3 of 6 races, looks to get by in time and upset tonight. Others to consider include the late driving back in grade A runner, Masqueradeball, along with the steadily improving late surging factor that is Jj’s Beau Bates. (1-3-7-5)

Race 12 – Now for the VETERAN power race. Hey Hey Daddy is a sprint stakes winner and just keeps on keeping on for the DQ Williams Kennel. Off a monster win, her third in 5 starts, she can tangle and take down the best of them when she wants to go. Tonight, from a favorable box, and with room to each side early, the empty post and the 5 goes wide at the break, she will seize the night once again. Speaking of the 5, Sg’s Bob Uecker, is a strong ship in from Wheeling Downs that is getting his groove figured out over the Jacksonville oval. Hot off a win, he has started to break, and could steal away back to back jacks in this one. Keep an eye out for Lee Vision too. With 6 trips in the money in a row, including a pair of wins, she is no slouch either, and rounding out the selections is Jesse Vargas from the rail. Not the best spot, but the late speed makes him the best of the rest tonight. (4-5-6-1)

Race 15 – Rested, Ready, Repeating! The three R’s tell you just who is going to win this race, Lk’s Centuria! This dual threat can beat you from the lead, or from off the pace, and should be unabated from the outside post in this effort. Her last trip from this box, was her last start where she won by 8 in 37.22 seconds. QUESTIONS? The only greyhound with a chance to run her down would be Herstal. The former 770 track record holder, Herstal has gears late that not many possess. She is posted well and will factor somewhere at the finish line. Others to not forget about come from the inside as well. Aintgunnawasteit is a former stakes finalist that has been knocking at the door to win in 5 of her last 6 effort, all of which were in the money. Kentucky Ember might be new to the route, but has shown signs that she can hang over the distance as well. She could be a tough out here if she breaks well tonight. (8-3-1-2)

Saturday matinee July 8th, 2017

Race 11 – Post position makes a difference in this race. Perfect Pitch loves to break from the rail and normally comes out first in that process. Just look at her last race. Same box, box to wire, winner! Repeat performance tonight! Yes please! She will not be alone on the front end though as ship in Rob Gronk and cagey stakes veteran Ww’s Sammy both can bring it from the get go. If either of these two decided to hit the lid tonight, the race could be for place, as they know how to win once they get their noses in front of a field of greyhounds. Don’t slack on Idaho Kinky either. The former stakes finalists is a solid grade A chaser that can close hard late on occasion. The post is right for him too, he just needs to show up and challenge early if he wants a chance to upset today. (1-5-3-7)

Saturday evening July 8th, 2017

Race 7 – She might be new to grade A recently, but this girl knows how to win. Finding her break once again, Flying Ruth Riley, is back in a big way. With back to back to back wins, yes 3 straight, she has vaulted from grade D back to the top-grade ranks and will be looking to continue the streak in this effort. With no big early speeders around, look for her to steal the front end and control this race for yet another big time WIN! Pushing the pace should be the well posted threat Easi Key. Key has been in the trifecta in 5 of 6 races, including back to back wins in her last 4 efforts. Tonight, you get more of the same as she will be a threat throughout here. Keep tabs on the puppy MRL Bold Ego from the outside, he can close and has not missed the superfecta in 6 straight, and Stocks Arerising can be hit or miss, but when she breaks, she is tough. Right now, she is on the pitches with 3 quinielas in 4 starts. Could be another round tripper here if she gets loose early. (6-2-8-3)

Race 11 – Track record holder here, so you know where we are going, but you never know just which Real Good Feelin is going to show up. If she breaks, she is frankly unbeatable, and even if she doesn’t break, she can still be unbeatable at times. She has such a closing gear, and when she wants to win, she does just that. Here the 5 box is not really a great place to start, but that 29.95 clocking still looms in the lines. Gotta go with the heat! Trying to take her down will be the super pup Lk’s Black Gold. Winning 4 straight is speedy times and gets another outside gem post here, she could pull off the upset. So, could Gs Humongous. This big boy is ultra-tough with the lead and might just get it again in this effort. Winning back to back races, and 3 in his last 4, this red box could give him enough to pull off the hat trick. Don’t forget about Ww Speed Train either. This solid A greyhound can chase with the best of them and gets a good starting box to do it from in this effort. (5-7-1-2)

Race 15 – It might have been a few races since Watch Me had a win, but 2nd by a neck in a stakes final is just about as good. Before her last 4, she has 6 races in a row, and just needs to get back breaking in this one to start off a new streak. She has the tools to get it done, and find a way to the lead and the win in this effort. It will be a big task to win though as the streaking, 3 wins in a row, runner Dutch Double is also in the field. Since the Battle of the Sexes final, he has not lost and has closed by everyone to get the job done. He is as fast as he wants to be and when he is on, he is on. If he clears close again here, he could prove unstoppable again at the wire. Ww Mind At Rest also was in that final, she finished 3rd, and can hang with the best of them near the lead. The 8 box should help her out, if she can get around cleanly early on. Don’t forget about Arkans Funnel from the rail either. This all rail, all the time, runner has great early speed, has been in the money in 5 straight, could see the lead, but will be short in the stretch. She could be the one to catch on the front end, and could upset if the planets are aligned tonight. (2-6-8-1)

Sunday matinee July 9th, 2017

Race 11 – This one is an evenly matched race that should produce a great show for all our patrons to watch and wager on. With that being said, Nacho’s Newfie should be the one to beat in this effort. This solid grade A has been in the quiniela in 5 of his last 6 starts in grade A, and the post he starts from is a favorable one. He was 2nd to Real Good Feelin in her track record performance, and last time I checked, she is not in this race. Look for him to do what he needs to do to win. Pressuring will be BGR S Spielberg. Filming another masterpiece in this effort. Spielberg can get the job done too. With 3 wins in his last 5 starts in grade A, he too is a threat to win. Forget the last effort, and watch out for him again here. Others to thing about including the hot off a win, posted, closing threat Kells Threepeat along with stalking presence of Masked Adam West from the outside. (3-6-8-7)

The Night Goddess

The 2017 edition of the Battle of the Sexes race lived up to its name on Saturday evening July 1st at bestbet Jacksonville. Through all the hype and just which side was better, it came down to just who wanted it more in the 11th race. At the wire it was a photo finish, one male, one female, but who edged out who??

As Rusty rattled through the far turn the box came open for the 11th time on the card. Out popped the finals in the 2017 Battle of the Sexes and it was the former puppy stakes winner Pullanallnighter who came to run. Hitting the lid, she exploded to the front end and took instant command of this effort. She was clear by a couple of lengths early on, but the field was not giving up just yet. Chasing the leader down the front stretch was Ironhound winner Boc’s Queen Lady on the rail, followed closely by the early point leader in this race, and 6 race in a row winner, Watch me, along with the recent puppy stakes champ Ww Next Bigthing. This trio tried their best to close the gap, but Pullanallnigther was having none of that. Alone on the open air up front, she stretched her lead to 3 lengths at the first turn as the rest of the field jockeyed for position on the racetrack. Watch Me pulled ahead of the rest as he moved down on the inside part of the racetrack and cutoff the chasing Boc’s Queen Lady, Ww Next Bigthing took advantage of the extra room midtrack and set himself up for a backside run. Down past the tote board the field went, and Pullanallnighter was in easy command. Breezing on the lead she was coasting up front as the chasers were doing their best to try and gain ground with every step they took. At the far turn things would change again as the lead would shrink and the race would get more interesting. Watch Me found another gear and closed that 3-length margin down to a length as they turned for home. Once again trouble found Boc’s Queen Lady as Ww Next Bigthing moved to the rail and bumped and cutoff the former stakes champion. That made this one a two-greyhound race coming home, and each team was represented as they started a battle for the finish line. Pullanallnigther, the female participant, was still clinging to a lead, but Watch Me, the male participant, hugged the rail and set his sights on the win. The closer they crept to the finish line, the closer that Watch Me got to the leader. Both were giving their all and doing everything they could to take home the title. In the final few strides they were just heads apart and as they crossed the finish line, it was too close to call. After the dust settled, and the photo was processed, the FEMALES came out on top. Pullanallnighter had stolen away enough lengths at the start to survive on the late lead and hold off Watch Me by a neck at the finish line. Taking advantage of the trouble at the far turn, Ww Mind At Rest exploded up late to win the battle for show at the finish line just ahead of the forever chasing Ww Next Bigthing in 4th and Boc’s Queen Lady in 5th. Completing the race was Ww Jackpot in 6th, Flying Krypotonite 7th, and Cj’s Sadie in 8th.

Congratulations to Pullanallnighter, the Blanchard Kennel, the owners, Pence, Draper, and Henry, the trainer Traci Chase, and everyone else connected with this fantastic greyhound 2nd stake victory at bestbet Jacksonville.

bestbet Sprint Classic Round 3

Round 3 of the bestbet Sprint Classic runs on Monday evening July 24th at bestbet Jacksonville. Although the field has gotten smaller and competition has gotten taller. Only 4 races remain in the stakes and every point counts from now on out if you want to make it into the finals. Leading the way with back to back wins is Watch Me and Ww Mind At Rest, but they are not the only ones that stand a chance at making it into the elite 8. Loads of talent is still on tap, including several greyhounds that has been stakes finalist before, along with a stakes winner, and the track record holder. Let’s take a closer look at the remaining races and see if we can start off the week right with some winning wagers!

Monday July 24th, 2017

Round 3 of the bestbet Sprint Classic

Race 7 – Forget the last race. The puppy gets back on track in this effort. Pure Sensation has been just that since arriving at bestbet and tonight we get to see his dominance once again. With 5 wins in 6 starts, including some by double digits in blazing times, he has the goods no matter how many times he has been around the oval. Look for a solid break and for him to control the second half of this effort for the win. Trying to make him work early will be the fleet foot runners Gs Viola and Speedo Tuxedo, and late he must also be concerned with Pat C Hash Tag. (5-1-2-6)

Race 10 – Tough race here as the undefeated Watch Me tries to keep the streak intact in this effort. Breaking is the key to his success, and on one here has the hops early to deny him the front end. The only problem is, there might be some here that can run him down late and steal away this thunder. I still think he holds on, but it will be close as the track record holder, Real Good Feeling, is posted well and has enough gears late to catch anyone if she is around the lead early on. Others to consider here including the always chasing threat Kells Ferrari and the steady gaining factor Pat C Typhoon. (5-3-6-8)

Race 11 – Hey Hey Daddy is no stranger to winning races, or stakes races either, as she was the champ in this race in 2016. She is as fast as she wants to be and gets a fantastic inside post position in this effort. With 5 straight races in the quiniela, she will be a major factor again tonight. Applying early pressure will be the second-round winner Gs Humongous from the outside, along with the 6 races in a row in the money runner Perfect Pitch, and the ideally posted puppy threat that is Lk’s Black Gold. (2-8-7-1)

Race 12 – Here we get the other undefeated runner, Ww Mind At Rest. Tonight, I think we get more of the same from this fantastic girl. Peaking at the right time, she gets another good outside post, and it could be another box to wire romp. She will not be alone early or late and the breakers and the closers here at extremely talented. Lk’s Freestar was a second-round winner, and has won 4 of her last 6 efforts. With loads of early speed, she too could go box to wire and steal away the win. Huge closer Dutch Double gets a great outside post and could run them all down if the mood suits him tonight, and don’t forget about former stakes finalist Boc’s Andross either. She has 5 straight in the trifecta, including 2 wins, and should provide the leaders with a challenge again tonight. (8-2-7-4)

The Semi-Finals of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic will run on Saturday evening July 29th at bestbet Jacksonville. The field will be trimmed down again and only the top 24 greyhounds will move on with a chance to get into the finals. Watch and wager tonight, and make plans to join us on Saturday as we whittle down the competition to see just who is going to be in the finals on Saturday evening August 5th at bestbet Jacksonville.

Pup Sensation Rules Round 3

0
0

The third round of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic was ruled by longshots. Only one single favorite took home the top spot in the 4 rounds, and that win belonged to the new Sensation at the racetrack. Pure Sensation broke on top in the 7th race on the card, but was quickly outrushed to the lead by the ankle burner Gs Viola. He stalked the leader to the turn, but she stole a couple of lengths on him early on. Down the backstretch this duo went, and Viola held her own all the way to the far turn. Sure, her lead dwindled, but it wasn’t until they rounded the far turn that Sensation got his nose in front. Once in the clean air of the lead, this race was OVER! Putting the pedal to the metal, Sensation easily drew away from the rest and crossed 3.5 lengths better than anyone else as he posted up the fastest trip on the night in 30.91 seconds. This was his 6th win in 7 career starts, and two of those have come again stakes competition. Watch out for more from one of the best puppies in the country right now! L’s Sum Dog closed from well off the pace to win the photo for place with the fading Gs Viola. The steady chasing Anarchy Dream was 4th.

Another impressive effort came in the 11th race as Gs Humongous hit the lid, outrushed the competition to the first turn and never looked back. He was chased throughout by Bgs S Spielberg and Perfect Pitch, but try as they might they could not reel in the leader. In fact, they both retreated a bit late as they saw Humongous turn on the power late and drew away by 2 more lengths to finish 4 ahead of the nearest competitor at the wire as he stopped the clock at 31.04 seconds. Spielberg won the photo for place over Perfect Pitch, both of whom were threatened late by the late closing after trouble threat Hey Hey Daddy. This win was Humongous’s second in a row and he paid well for his backers at 4.5-1.

The remaining two winners got it done in come from behind fashion. The more dramatic effort of this pair came in the 12th race from Bang Ludwig. As the box came open, the strong breaker Lk’s Freestar moved wide at the start and made room for her and Bang Ludwig to get wide early and find room to rush to the turn. At the turn, Freestar was easily in command by 2.5 lengths, and she took that margin down the backside. There Ludwig swung wide and lost second place briefly to the Chasing Jesse Varges. By the far turn, Ludwig was on the move again and closing fast on the leader Freestar as they started to round the corner for home. Down the stretch they went as Ludwig swung wide again and Freestar tried to hold on for the victory. Ludwig dug in deep, but on a rush, and bolted by the leader to steal away the win on the wide side of the racetrack. Crossing 2.5 lengths better than the rest, in 31.01, Ludwig threw his hat into the ring as someone to contend with in this effort. Freestar settled for place after a winning trip on the lead, followed by the chasing Jesse Vargas, and the even superfecta threat Kc’s Waltrip.

The other winner on the card, came in the 10th race as the longest shot on the board at 11.6-1. Once again, the winner was not in the lead at the start, but ran a huge backside to get it done at the wire. In this effort, everyone broke and it was a mad house as they all rushed to the turn. Several greyhounds were crowded as at they tried to find room, but coming out on top at the turn was the fleet footed Ww Rowdy. Turning down the backside he separated himself by 2 lengths from the rest of the field, but that fun would be short lived. Also clearing was Pat C Typhoon and Mrl Bold Ego. Both greyhound gave chase after the leader and by the far turn, Typhoon had pulled off the magic trick and made the lead disappear as they turned for home. Pouring it on with every step he took, Typhoon drew off from the rest and crossed the line 2.5 length better than the competition in 31.20 seconds. The closing Mrl Ego finished an easy 2nd at the line, followed by the early leader Ww Rowdy in 3rd. Fourth place went to Real Good Feeling, who closed from last after encountering trouble throughout in this effort.

The semi-finals for the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic will take place on Saturday evening July 29th. The final 24 greyhounds will battle it out for the points and an opportunity to find a spot in the finals on Saturday evening August 5th at bestbet Jacksonville. Make you plans to cheer on favorites and play some greyhound bingo as well on the upcoming Saturday evenings at bestbet.

Semi-Finals bestbet Sprint Classic

The Semi-finals of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic should be a while affair and 14 of the top 24 remaining greyhounds are just a win away from the point lead and everyone still might have a chance, if the cards play out right, to make it into the finals. The points are spread out a bit and it should be interesting to see just who shows up on Saturday evening at bestbet Jacksonville. Let’s take a closer look at the remaining 3 races and see if we can get you cashing some tickets this weekend.

Saturday evening – July 29th, 2017

Race 7 – Puppy power will be in full display once again tonight. The new sensation at the racetrack, PURE SENSATION, should be the one to beat again in this effort. This pup has gone straight up the ladder to grade A and has won 6 of his 7 lifetime starts, 2 of which have come against stakes competition. He has gears to burn and should put them on display once again tonight from a great outside post position. He will not be in the lead early on, that is saved for the lid popping threat Lk’s Freestar, but in the end, he will take over and get the job done in the stretch. No doubt Freestar is the one to catch on the front end in this effort. Easily the best breaker, she has not missed the trifecta in any of the rounds, but has been caught in her 2 of those efforts. Look for another strong trip and for her to surrender late again tonight. Others to consider here include the late closing, getting stronger with every start runner, L’s Sum Dog, along with the posted up third round winner, Pat C Typhoon. (7-6-4-1)

Race 9 – Going with the hot hand here, and a bit of a longershot, Gs Humongous. This greyhound is breaking extremely well he has turned those good early starts into W’s at the finish line. He has won back to back races and is the hottest thing going coming into the semi-finals. Another strong outside post will give him room to rush early on and no one should beat him to the lead again tonight. Here’s to holding on at the wire for the hat trick. That might be easier said than done in this race though as the track record holder, Real Good Feelin, is right next door and ready to pounce. As you can tell, she is as fast as she wants to be and can run down pretty much anyone at the racetrack if the mood suits here. When she breaks, she is almost unbeatable, but she didn’t get out well in her last two efforts and had to overcome trouble to contend. She needs a win to for sure stamp her spot into the finals, so tonight could be her time to shine. Others to not overlook in this effort include the ideally posted in the money 6 straight races runner Perfect Pitch, who has two wins showing and both of those came from the same one box that she has tonight, and the forget my last race and look at the previous 4 in the quiniela threat Boc’s Andross. (7-8-1-5)

Race 11 – Step up time for a couple of greyhounds in this race. Last year’s winner, Hey Hey Daddy, and recent stakes round ruler, Watch Me, both need to step up here and put up a big effort if they want to move on to Saturday evening and have another shot at a stakes title. Hey Hey Daddy is clearly the greyhound to beat in this race as she has track record type speed and can win with or without the lead in any race. She needs to break better there so that she can get back on top, and the middle post is a good place for her to start from. She has not missed the quiniela, including 2 wins, in her last 3 starts from the middle posts. She might have to come from off the pace to get the job done as Watch Me can hit the lid and steal leads on occasion, and she must avoid the right breaking Band Ludwig from and 4 box. Watch Me has the best chance to spoil Daddy’s return party tonight. He can hit the lid and sire fields on the front end, and he needs a solid trip here if he wants to make the finals once again at bestbet Jacksonville. He is short late on occasion and could be run down here too again if Daddy or others get around the lead in the early stages of this race. Still a threat, you can’t leave him out. Keep an eye out for Bgr S Spielberg early and he has really come into his own as of late and has just missed the win in his last two efforts in a row in the stakes. His early foot will make him dangerous to the stretch. Mrl Bold Ego must not be overlooked either. With a strong 1 box, he should get close early and factor for the duration of this effort. His last win, came from the same red box that he has in this effort tonight. (5-6-3-1)

I don’t really know what to say about the point leader, except that Pure Sensation is breaking all the rules. No greyhound here, that I can remember, has ever entered a stake race in just his fifth official start. No greyhound has ever become the point leader for the stakes in just their 8th official race, and no greyhound has ever looked like he is clearly the one to beat in the final after winning 7 of his 8 career races. The NEW Sensation at bestbet Jacksonville, Pure Sensation is obviously competing in his first ever stakes event and comes out as the one on top heading into the finals. Winning 3 of the 4 rounds, he has shown talent beyond his years and has found a way to win race with or without the early lead. No wavering for this pup, he knows how to flat out fly, and that was never more on display than in his first-round race. His first race in grade A, he broke close, stalked early, took over down the backside, and raced away from the field for the 10-length victory in 30.57 seconds. PURE dominance is what he showed in that race, and trust me when I say, there is going to me more of that to come. He can run from anywhere it looks like, but those midtrack to wide posts seem to be calling his name. Post really doesn’t matter that much as long as he can get out close and find room to rush hard to the turn. This Lester Raines pup doesn’t have to be in the early lead to win this final round race, he just has to be in the conversation at the turn. He has gears to burn late and will be doing whatever he can to throw his hat into the ring for yet another chance at a win in his young career. One of the best greyhounds at Jacksonville, and one of the best puppies in the country, Pure Sensation could be poised to make his presence known on the National Scene come Saturday evening with a stakes win!

Track record holder Real Good Feelin was running well, as always, in the rounds of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic where she won twice and never finished out of the money in any effort. This big-time closer from DQ has the most experience of any greyhound in this race and has made it to the finals in 5 of her last 6 starts events that she has competed in. Granted the finals have not been kind to her, she finished out of the money in her last two major stakes finals, but is looking to get off the snide come Saturday evening at bestbet Jacksonville. All you had to do was watch her Semi-Final race and you know that she is going to be a force in this final. Breaking from her beloved 8 box, she was out close and around the leader as they rounded the first turn. Down the backside she really turned on the juice and took a breezing lead to the far turn. Turning for home she put the peal to the metal and coasted to the wire for the easy victory in 30.63 seconds, which happened to be the fastest win on the card. Outside is where this little girl wants to start from and that is easy to see in her lines. In her last 20 starts from the 7 or 8 boxes, she has won 15 times, been in the quiniela in 19 efforts, and has not finished out of the trifecta once. Also included in those numbers was her 29.95 second track record from the 7 box. If she can get out close early, find room to use her raw speed, she could prove unstoppable in this stakes final.

Hey Hey Daddy is the sister to Real Good Feelin, and even though she finished below her in qualifying, there is no drop off in talent. Hey Hey Daddy gets more bragging rights anyways as she won this race a year ago. Yep, the 2016 champion is back, and with the way she ran through qualifying, she is not ready to be put out to pasture just yet. Winning in round 1, finishing in the quiniela 2 more times, and finding the final spot in the superfecta in the other after trouble, Hey Hey Daddy is ready to challenge once again on Saturday evening. Competing in his 4th stakes for DQ, this will only be her second final round race, and in the other one, she came out the winner. Breaking and holding strong, or drawing away, is how she wins most of her races and that is just what she did in the first round of action. Coming out well, she seized command of the run to the turn and took over the lead early on. Driving down the backside, she increased her lead to the far turn and maintained it all the way to the wire for a big margin of victory. Consistent as the day is long, Daddy currently has been in the money in 22 of her last 24 starts, including 14 wins. Post could aide her in this effort, especially from the midtrack to wide starting boxes. She has proven that she can win from anywhere, and when she breaks, she is a tough out for anyone at the racetrack. It takes a special effort to get to her on the lead, and it has only happened 3 times in her Jacksonville career. Does she have what it takes to win this race in back to back years? We will soon find out!

Talk about coming into your own at the right time, that is just what Gs Humongous has done. This strong breaking greyhound is a threat on the front end, when he can get there, and he accomplished that task twice in the 4 rounds of the stakes. Crossing first in a box to wire romp, and winning another by a nose from just off the pace, he parlayed that 38 points with a 4th and 7th place finish into the top 4 in qualifying. Clearly his best race came in round 3 as he broke close, outrushed everyone to the early lead and drew away late for a comfortable win at the finish line. Competing in his 3rd stakes for the Willis Kennel, Humongous will get his first chance at stakes final competition come Saturday evening. Against this talented field, there is just one thing that Gs Humongous needs to do… BREAK! Post position might be important, if he were to stay in the box for a while, but if he wants a chance to score a win, he needs to get his nose in front early on. In 13 occasions where he has held the lead at the far turn, he has gone on to win on 11 of those trips. He has only been caught twice from behind, and that could be a good omen for him here. If he were to choose a starting post, I would assume that it would be somewhere on the edges, with a preference to the outside boxes. If he finds a Humongous break tonight, he too has a shot the win come the finish line.

watchme Watch Me – (44 Points)
OP Career Totals (122/12-4-6-3)
R Bd – M June 2014 Flying Coal City – Barts Anxious

Another stakes race, another final for Watch Me. Sure, he might have only been here a short time, but Watch Me has taken to the racetrack and was just a nose short of a stakes win last time out in the finals of the 20127 Battle of The Sexes. Here it looked like more of the same as he won the first two rounds of qualifying and used those points to coast his way into the finals. When he needed it, he found that mojo again, and that could prove to be good for him again here. Clearly breaking is his best attribute, and he showed everyone just what he could do in the open air in round number two. Hitting the lid, he grabbed the front end almost immediately and never looked back. Pushing the pace to the turn, he stole away enough lengths early, to hold on late for the easy victory, in a speedy time of 30.56, at the wire. The rail is where Watch me wants to be and if he could get the pick of the century, he would request the inside boxes at the post-position draw. Really though, he is all about breaking when he wins, so getting out of the starting box is way more important than where he starts from. If this Blanchard star can break fast, post will not matter at all in this stakes final. Redemption is on his mind, tonight he just needs to be a nose better to get it done.

Mind Ww Mind At Rest – (42 Points)
OP Career Totals (19/6-6-1-1)
Bk – F March 2015 Pat C Clement – Ww’s Death Row
Owned By – Julia Ward
Runs for the Wayne Ward Kennel
Trained by Kelly Rowell

Ww Mind At Rest is also competing in her second straight stakes final as she was also in the elite 8 in the 2017 edition of the Battle of The Sexes race. So this will be her second stakes final in 2 tries for the Wayne Ward kennel and this time out she hopes to finish better than 3rd. She looked stellar in the first two round of the stakes as she took home back to back near box to wire wins, including one in the best time on the card, but missed her break and found trouble in the remaining two rounds as she finished out of the money. Looking for that mojo? She just needs to watch the replay of her 2nd round race. There she burst out of the box and quickly took over the race. Getting to the front end as they raced for the turn, she put 2.5 lengths between her and the rest as she headed up the backside. She was not done yet though as she increased the lead by a length at the far turn, and by another at the finish line. With 4.5 lengths clear, her 30.38 second clocking was the fastest of all the times in all 4 of the rounds. Like several other greyhounds in this race, breaking well seems to be what motivates her to running well. When she is not close early on she is not the same greyhound as she is in the open air up front. A good starting box could help her out here. The edges would be a good place to start from for this rail runner. There she can get room to rush and find a way to get her nose it front. If she wants a chance against this talented field, she needs to take a page from several other greyhounds in this race, and HIT THE LID!

freestar Lk’s Freestar – (41 Points)
OP Career Totals (92/16-12-20-13)
R – F November 2014 B’s O’Grady – Lk’s Danika
Owned By – Jill Lashmet
Runs for the Ocala Kennel
Trained by Antonette Gerard

Lk’s Freestar was following the trend of several other greyhounds in this race. Running the best in her career and making the most of the early rounds, she rode a win, a place, a show, and a 7th place finish into this final round field. This early speeder from the Ocala Kennel, is competing in her second ever stakes race and made it all the way to the finals this time around. Easily her best effort came in round number two where she exploded to the lead from the starting box. With the entire field hot on her heels, she dug in deep for the duration and turned back all challengers from the slim win at the finish line. Like several others here, she needs to break well to have a chance at all in this stakes final. She might have the less late speed of anyone here, so getting a quick start will be extra important for her on Saturday evening. As for posts, she could start from a few different ones and still get the job done. She likes the edges most, it seems to provide her with room, and that is just want needs to happen in this race tonight. She has the speed and skills set to make the lead in this race, not doubt about it, but the question that remains is… Can she hold off the late comers if she does find room up front? First things first. She must get out of the box in a hurry or the rest of it will just be a moot point.

Career Totals (18/4-3-2-4)
Bk – M October 2015 Js Im Seein Red – Mrl Booby Trap
Owned By – Mrl Metals, LLC
Runs for the Double J Kennel
Trained by Chris Maynard

Finally, is the MRL Bold Ego. Another true puppy in the finals, he has just 18 career starts and gave a bit of an opposite run into the last spot in the finals. Starting out slowly, with a tough 7th place finish, he improved in each start. Round 2 we saw a 3rd place effort, followed up by a strong 2nd place finish in round number 3. In the finals, he needed to win just to have a chance and that is exactly what he did. Not only did he win he did something that has only been done a couple of times ever at bestbet Jacksonville. He caught Hey Hey Daddy on the lead! Breaking in the middle of the pack, he found room through the first turn and drove hard after the leaders up the backside. By the far turn he was stalking the front pair as Daddy went by Watch Me to take control. In the final few strides, he put on a show, and drove past for the victory. This race will be the first stakes final for the Double J star pup, and he gets there in his first attempt at stakes racing competition. Late speed is what separates him from several of his counterparts in this race. Breaking is not really his forte, but he can come from off the pace to challenge. With all the early speed up front here, he might just get room to run behind them, and it could help him surprise once again on Saturday evening. Inside looks like the place he would like to start from, but he has looked well from the outside on occasion too. Clearly the underdog in this race, Bold Ego might just need the best effort of his career if he is going to pull off the upset. Don’t count him out, he needed a win to get here, and got that done, tonight might just be another gem.

bestbet Sprint Classic Finals Preview

Saturday evening will feature not just another stakes event, the finals of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic, but one that could prove to have some interesting things to write about come Sunday. This is a powerhouse event with a load of talented greyhounds looking to come out at the wire with the cash and hardware. Plenty of things could happen like some greyhound getting redemption for missing last time out in the finals, someone setting another track record, someone getting their 60th win at bestbet, someone getting their first ever stakes win in just 1 try at stakes competition, someone winning a stakes final in just their 9th career start, and even someone that could repeat as the champion in the second straight year. There are plenty of storylines to follow, so let’s take a closer look at the finalist, and the race, and see if we can get you cashing some tickets on Saturday evening August 5th at bestbet Jacksonville.

Finals of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic
Race 11 – Saturday evening August 5th, 2017

1. LK’s Freestar (B’s O’Grady – Lk’s Danika) is the best early speed greyhound in the race and gets a great one box to break from. She might just be the one to catch in this effort, the problem is that there are several that can get the job done at the wire. She does have a chance to win here, if she can get some help behind her. Last time out in red, she won!

2. Gs Humongous (Pat C Game Face – Gs Ashlynn) is better that he ever gets credit for and is tough on the late lead when he can get there. He won twice in qualifying and has proven that he can wire fields of greyhounds to win. The post helps, but like several other early speeders, he can be short late as well. With 11 wins out of 13 tries from the lead at the far turn, he must break on top to have a chance here.

3. Hey Hey Daddy (Tmc’s Remedy – Need A Date) what more needs to be said then.. He was the winner of this race last year and is in the finals again this year. Daddy is as fast as she wants to be and draws a good inside post here in this effort. She can be dominating with the early lead, but she can come from off the pace as well to get things done at the finish line. If she decides to break, she will be tough to beat tonight.

4. Mrl Bold Ego (Js Im Seein Red – Mrl Booby Trap) is a strong closing puppy that stepped up in the semi-finals with a win to make it into this race. He has really come into his own in his last couple of races, but tonight is a different story against some of the biggest powerhouses that bestbet can provide. He will have a tough task ahead of him in this effort, especially if he sits in the box too long at the break.

5. Real Good Feelin (Tmc’s Remedy – Need A Date) is the track record holder that has won 59 races at bestbet. She is as fast as she wants to be and can win races from the front end and from off the pace as well. She gets a tough starting box here, but should outbreak the 4 and might just have room to rush the turn tonight. She has had tough trips in her last two finals, and is overdue for a big effort. If she gets loose early, I don’t think anyone here can run with her in the open.

6. Pure Sensation (Djays Octane – Heavenly Bale) is the best puppy in the country right now. Winning 7 of 8 starts, including 3 rounds of the stakes, this point leader is the real deal and can beat anyone when he wants to. Not a lot to go on for experience, but if he can get the job done at the wire, he will set even more records here at bestbet Jacksonville. He is already the least experience wise to make a final, and the least experienced to lead in points in qualifying, and with a solid break and room early, he might just complete the trifecta with the least experienced to win a stakes title.

7. Ww Mind At Rest (Pat C Clement – Ww’s Death Row) backed into the finals after a pair of gem box to wire wins in the row. Needing to find her mojo now, Mind At Rest, knows how to step up when needed. She was just 3rd in the finals of the Battle of the Sexes race, and was the fastest greyhound in qualifying at 30.38 seconds. Her key to success is her break, so she needs to hit the lid again tonight if she stands a chance at winning.

8. Watch Me (Flying Coal City – Barts Anxious) is just looking to be a neck better in this effort than the finals of the Battle of the Sexes race where he finished second. Ideal post position here away from the crowd and room for him to get out of the box and rush the turn. Like the other early speeders, he is short late too and it could harm him again in this effort. He could win on the lead though and that is if he can get there. A big break is needed, but don’t overlook him here.

Ok here is how I see the race playing out. At the break, we all know that Lk’s Freestar, Watch Me, and Gs Humongous should all come to run. Each will make their way toward the front, but it should be Freestar that leads the early way. Watch Me should be staking with the middle of the field looking for position as they start the drive up the frontstretch. Freestar should grab control as they get to the turn with Watch Me pressuring close behind. Pure Sensation and Hey Hey Daddy will be in the next tier chasing the leaders followed by the rest of the field behind them. Down the backside Freestar continues to push the pace as Watch Me and the chasers draw even closer. By the far turn, the lead is Gone for Freestar as the closers will be a coming. Watch Me takes over the late lead heading into the stretch, but he will have to deal with the closing Pure Sensation and Hey Hey Daddy, along with the off the pace late flyers Real Good Feelin and Mrl Bold Ego. Down the stretch they come, Pure Sensation digs in deep, finds that late powerful stride, and finds a way to battle past the lead before the finish line. Watch Me settles for place as Hey Hey Daddy is close behind in third. Real Good Feeling outcloses the rest for the finals spot in the superfecta at the wire. So, I like (6-8-3-5) in this final.

Good luck and Safe Racing to all, and remember it is your last chance to play greyhound Bingo, and 2nd chance drawings, this summer as this Saturday evening will be the conclusion of our Greyhound Summer promotion. So, grab your friends, make you plans, watch, wager and win, on the best greyhounds around this Saturday evening here at bestbet Jacksonville.

The Best Feelin

On Saturday evening August 5th at bestbet Jacksonville the 2017 edition of the bestbet Sprint Classic took place, and if you wanted a race to watch, this was it. This final was loaded with talent, including last year’s winner, the track record holder, the best pup in the country, other stakes finalists, and some early speed stars that would make anyone work to see the front end. All ready to go in the 11th race, but how this race played out, would be something that no one saw coming.

As the lure rattled through the far turn and the started box popped open in the 11th race on the card, the most unlikely of greyhounds decided that tonight was the night to break. Sure, several were close at the start, but the track record holder, Real Good Feelin, was the one that seized the moment and took the early lead. Making up for her rough trips in her last two finals, Real Good Feelin was here to run and that is just what she did. Pushing the lead from the get go, she took the early speeders to task as they went to the turn. In tow was Gs Humongous, and Lk’s Freestar, along with the super-pup Pure Sensation. By the turn the separation had already started as Real Good Feeling opened up 3 full lengths on the rest of the field. Pure Sensation had taken over second and was setting his sights on the leader down the backside. Lk’s Freestar was also in contention at this point, but soon it would turn into a two-greyhound race. Real Good Feelin continued to press the lead on the front end and it appeared that no one was going to better her on this occasion. But the race was not over just yet. Pure Sensation continued to give his all, and by the far turn he had chipped away at the lead just a bit. Other greyhounds made moves in the backstretch as well and it was going to be a jumbled mess for the third best behind the dynamic duo up front. Turning for home, Real Good Feeling was in complete control as she breezed for the finish line. Pure Sensation was not done just yet though. He dug in deep and gave everything he had for one last run at the leader before the wire. Gaining with every stride he took, that is saying something as the greyhound on the lead was the track record holder, Pure Sensation closed some of the gap before they hit the wire. Real Good Feeling clung to her easy lead as she bested the field at the finish line by a length and a half. Pure Sensation was second, as he cut her lead in half over the second part of this race. Any other greyhound in the lead, he would have won, but still a great showing from a greyhound that has only 9 official starts. The show spot was highly contested and had to be settled by a photo finish. And both competitors came from off the pace to challenge for a spot in the money at the wire. Ww Mind At rest won the photo over Mrl Bold Ego for show as early threat Lk’s Freestar had to settle for 5th at the finish line after being outrun late. Completing the field was last year’s winner Hey Hey Daddy in 6th, Gs Humongous in 7th, and Watch Me in 8th. (Replay of the Race)

Congratulation head out to the DQ Williams Kennel, Owner Tina Williams, Kennel Owner Sharon Williams, trainer Craig Edwards, and everyone else connected with this fantastic greyhound. This win was her 60th at bestbet and her 85th overall. She won 25 races at Gulf Greyhound Park and is yet another stakes winner out of the stellar brood Need A Date. Hey Hey Daddy, her sister won this race last year. Seldom Told won the 2016 Orange Park Derby and the Holiday Extravaganza Sprint, and Need My Moneynow won the Daytona 550 race, and the March Mayhem in 2016. Turning four this month, she might be getting a little long in the tooth, but if she keeps running like she did in this final, there could be more races to win at bestbet. If not, I think she might just have a future as a brood matron too. Good luck to her in whatever comes her way in the future.

Weekend Selections

Another great weekend of racing is ahead of us here at bestbet Jacksonville. Loads of talent on tap as we get to see some feature races over all three distances. No matter what you like, we have you covered. We have 550,660 and a 770-yard race, along with a couple stakes winners, some streaking greyhounds, new ship ins, rising stars, early and late speeders, and even a greyhound trying to climb the ladder undefeated. So, let’s take a closer look at the races and see if we can get you cashing some tickets this weekend at bestbet Jacksonville.

Friday evening August 11, 2017

Race 7 – No doubt about who we are picking here. The recent winner of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic, Real Good Feelin. She can get it done with or without the lead, and tonight it will be of the come from behind kind. Why? Kc’s Todd is back and the front end should be saved for him. He is a strong breaker, but can’t keep up in the deep stretch. Feeling breezed by for win number 86! Also keep an eye out for the returning threat C Ville Kree, who won his last start a couple of weeks ago, and the cagey veteran that just missed the stakes finals, Boc’s Andross. (6-3-7-2)

Race 10 – Another greyhound off the stakes rounds is Kells Ferrari. Rounding back into form in his last effort, he outrushed the rest and took over early on. Stretching out the lead, he breezed to the wire all alone for the easy win. Expect more of the same here. Trying to push the leader will be the stalking threats Easi Key from the outside, and solid grade A threat Lindy Booth from the rail. Don’t sleep on Easi Hercules either. He might not be quite the class of the rest, but he is finally outside and that could make a difference here. (3-6-1-7)

Race 15 – Tough to pick against back to back winners, so we will take both! Flyin Kryptonite and L’s Sum Dog both have scored wins in their last two races in a row and each is trying for the hat trick in this effort. Kryptonite has the better early speed of the pair and should be able to get in the lead early on here. She is tough to catch, though it has been done, so she gets the slight edge in this match up. Both better be wary though of Touch To Much. When he wants to go, he can be hard to handle as well, the problem is that we don’t know just when that is going to be. Also look out for the resurging threat C Ville Katelyn. She has really come back well from her rest and will be tough if she gets outside and gets room to run. (6-3-7-4)

Saturday matinee August 12, 2017

Race 7 – Puppy power here as upstart Lee Anson might be slow at the break, but his finishes has been nothing but fast. Not missing the money in 6 straight, or only once in 16 career races, he is the real deal and will find a way to win at the wire in back to back races. Trying to derail his efforts will be the recent stakes competitor Ww Spearmint. He is tough around the lead and might just be the one to beat late in this effort. Jj’s Beau Bates is also a stalking threat that is running well with 5 straight trifecta trips in a row, and don’t forget about Idaho Sal from the rail either. She can be hot or cold running at times, but when she is on, she too could steal away a win today.

Race 11 – Even though he can be goofy at times, Dutch Double is one of the fastest and most talented greyhounds at the racetrack. Here is he not in a great starting box, but should get room to run early as the big breakers are to his outside. He will not be in front at the start, but he will make up for it in the end. Closing by near the wire, he completes another trip around the oval with yet another win. Trying to wire him on the lead will be the early speed pair of solid grade A, Masked Adam West, or the back to back box to wire winner Dutch Doreen. Both have the skills to beat the box, grab the lead, and hold on to win. Today just won’t be that day. Duke Rufus also gets a look as he competed in the stakes and is showing a strong win last time out in the red blanket. (3-6-5-1)

Saturday evening August 12, 2017

Race 5 – It might not be a grade A race, but it is a marathon and that is just about all we need to get excited about. So, if you want a spot play for the weekend, it doesn’t get any better than this! How about the former track record holder over 770-yards against some grade C and D greyhounds? Would you take that? I would! Enter Herstal in the 8 box! Nothing else to say! Except cash your tickets! Early Cpt Thunderpant might steal the lead, but he will get caught again late. Riser should be around the pace as well and is better than the 660 lines showing. Going on a limb here for the last super spot. Lk’s Rose Petal can close like a train over 550 and might just be able to go this far too. (8-4-6-2)

Race 7 – Trying for perfection, Flying Orca gets the nod in this effort. This rushing monster has yet to lose and has 4 wins in 4 starts at bestbet Jacksonville. She will have to come out better than she did last time from the 2 box if she wants to win as there are a couple of greyhounds here that know how to get things done in grade A already. Ww’s Holy Grail won last time out, and 3 wins in 6 races, and has been in the money in 5 of 6 starts. Look for her to be around early and often here. Stakes winner Boc’s Queen Lady is rested and ready to go from the 1 box and could decide to show up in a big way again tonight, and stay keen on Ww’s Epic also. Tried 660 came up short, but got to see the lure up close on the lead. She could break better tonight and surprise them all on the lead. (2-4-1-7)

Race 11 – This race should be a highly contested one from the get go. Recent stakes threat, Lk’s Black Gold has showed up tremendously since exiting the rounds. Winning two of three races, and finishing in the quiniela all three times, she is ready to put on another show tonight. Making her work will be the back to back recent winner Roc A By Sunkist. Sunkist is also a breaker, so this one could be a knock down drag out battle from box to wire. Trying to take both of them down late will be the fast finishing, and 4th place factor in the finals of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic, Mrl Bold Ego, along with the well posted late driving threat that is Flying Ukrainian. (6-8-5-3)

Race 15 – Over to 660 for this one and we get the 2016 winner of the bestbet Derby, Barts Risingstar. When this greyhound is on, he is almost untouchable here and tonight he gets a great starting box to boot. He has won back to back races and 3 of his last 4 starts. He is back in a big way and will continue to win again tonight. CBJ Sassafras might have something to say about it though. He has also won back to back races over 660 yards should be a threat again in this effort. Rising, closing, star Businessasusual could throw his hat in the ring late for the best of the rest prize. Winning 3 of 5, he looks good, but the competition is tougher in A than it is in grade D, C, or B. Veteran Dutch Casey must also get a look as he is a solid grade A that has finished in the money in 4 of 6 races, three of which have come from outside posts, just like the one he has in this effort. (2-4-6-8)

Sunday matinee August 13, 2017

Race 11 – This race is a tossup race. Anyone here could win if the mood suits them, but you must go with somebody, so I like Super C Amazon. Coming off a big win from the very same post position, he has some mojo going and if he can break well again, he could be off to the races for an easy win today. Kc’s Waltrip loves this middle post and makes the most of the extra room at the break. In his last effort from here he scored a near box to wire win. If he finds his break again, he might just repeat that performance. Next up to consider is the solid grade A that has 2 wins showing and has been in the trifecta on 3 occasions. Consistence is the selling point of Locopegaso, but he will need to be close early to be effective today. Mrl Stunt Man rounds out the selections. This big-time closer can come from way back to challenge at the finish line, and if he decides to do better early, he might just prove unstoppable late in this effort. (1-5-2-8)

Top Races This Weekend

We’re back! Bestbet Jacksonville is ready to get things rolling gain this weekend with some stellar fields of greyhound heading to post to score some wins. We are going to breakdown those races and see if we can get you cashing some tickets. Top grade events over 550 and 660 yards, will be on display with stakes winners, stakes veterans, rising stars, cagey veterans, and even a track record holder in the mix, you know it is going to be a good time for all.

Friday evening August 18, 2017

Race 7 – Could be the toughest race of the weekend, and it’s the one we get to start out with. We all know what the super-pup Pure Sensation can do, and this time around he gets the 8 box. I think he gets out better, is stalking early, and proves best at the wire. He will have to catch his kennelmate, Kells Ferrari, if he wants to win though. Ferrari is firing on all cylinders right now with 3 wins in a row. Both better fear the 2016 bestbet Sprint Classic Champ Hey Hey Daddy, who has shown recently that his form is not fading just yet, and then there is the upstart puppy Jedi Texas Acre. This big-time closer has won half of his official starts and should make his presence known in the deep stretch. (8-1-6-7)

Race 10 – Easy pickins here are the track record holder, and the winner of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic, Real Good Feelin gets a great outside post and another win. We all know she will most likely come from off the pace, but there is no one in this race that can run with her late in the open. The lead should be saved for the quick breaking Kc’s Todd, also posted well, but no way will he be able to hold off the champ in the stretch. She might have to run down Flying Kryptonite too, as he has been known on occasion to hit the lid as well. Watch out for Lindy Booth too. This always stalking pup has been in the trifecta in 3 straight and 4 of her last 6 races in grade A. (7-2-8-4)

Race 15 – Puppy power time in this evenly matched up race that caps off the card. Kells Pretender is 6 of 7 in the quiniela for her career, including 4 victories. This huge closer should like the inside here and can run down any of the early leaders she needs to in order to get things done. More success for the fantastic puppy. Pushing the lead early should be the back to back winner Locomylegacy. Moving up nicely from B, she might just be over his head a bit here, and short late, but she should push the pace to the stretch. Watch out for the stalking threats as well. Ww Spearmint is back in grade A and has not missed the trifecta in 6 straight, and Rob Gronk is loving the new racetrack, is posted well here, and has not missed the money in his last 5 races in a row. (3-5-2-4)

Saturday matinee August 19, 2017

Race 11 – Another stellar puppy from Lester Raines to talk about is Lee Anson. This greyhound has gears the rest of the country wishes they possessed. He has been in the money in 17 of his 18 official starts, and that includes wins in his last 3 races in a row. He loves it outside and will come flying late once again to steal away the W at the wire. Pushing the lead should be Ww’s Castle Rock, and if she gets some help behind her, she might have a shot at wiring this field on the lead. Chasing the leader, and making everyone work for it, will be the early speeder Dutch Doreen from a coveted rail posted, and the on again, off again, threat that is Duke Rufus. (8-6-1-3)

Saturday evening August 19, 2017

Race 7 – Post position makes a difference in this effort. Tonight, Jj’s Beau Bates is the selection for me. This greyhound is a whole different runner from the rail and get there tonight with this 2 box. He has been pretty good without it too, as he has not missed the money in 6 straight trips. Riding high off a win, he is poised for back to back jacks in this effort. Trying to run him down will be the late closing stakes race duo of Mrl Bold Ego and Pat C Typhoon. Ego can get by anyone if he wants to late, and if he decides to break, the race will be his. (i.e. look back 2 starts) He is posted well near the midtrack and will come on strong late to challenge again here. Pat C Typhoon is no slouch either. The outside post is ideal for him and he too can come on strong in the stretch. Look for him to expand of his 5 of 6 finished in the trifecta. Don’t forget about the solid grade A Ww’s Holy Grail either. An even runner that can steal the lead and the win on occasion. She needs to break quick here in order to be successful. (2-3-8-4)

Race 11 – An evenly matched up affair that could be had by almost anyone in this race, but if SOMEONE decide that he want to run, this race will be his! Dutch Double is as fast as he wants to be and is clearly the choice in this race, that is if the faucet is turned to the hot position. If he is on, he can come from way back to score at the wire, if not, you get the even running effort. Here with extra room at the break, he should be heated up early. Pushing the pace should be the solid grade A Imar Javilin from the outside, along with Cruella Deville from the rail. Both greyhound could see the lead, both are short late, and I think they both get caught. Another late threat to keep an eye out for will be Ww Speed Train. This girl gets a good midtrack post, and could throw her hat into the ring in the stretch. (5-8-3-2)

Race 15 – Over to 660 yards for the nightcap and a very tough race 5 of the 8 greyhounds have won in grade A at this distance in their last 3 races. When in doubt, go with the stakes winners. Barts Rising Star was the winner of the 2016 bestbet Derby, and is clearly the class in this effort. Winning 3 of 4 and not missing the money in 5 straight, you know the effort you are going to get, especially from the 1 box. It will not be an easy task to get done though. Lk’s Centuria is returning and has 4 wins in 6 races showing in grade A too. Lee Trinity is riding high off a win last time out and has been in the money in 3 straight efforts and 4 of her last 6 trips, and Baseball trophy gets a look too even though he is moving up to grade A here. That win last time out, by 7 was impressive, and he hasn’t missed the cash in 5 straight races over 660 yards. Loads of talent, let’s see who wants it more tonight. (1-2-6-3)

Sunday matinee August 20, 2017

Race 11 – Another clear choice, at least on paper, in this race. Locopegaso has won back to back effort and 3 of his last 4 races. This early speed box to wire machine must get out of the starting box in a hurry to get it done, but with no big early speeders around, I think he can do it. Once in the lead, he is tough to beat. Time for a hat trick. Pushing the leader throughout should be the 2017 Ironhound Champ, Boc’s Queen Lady. This greyhound just keeps on coming no matter the distance or race or position or whatever. She gives her all in every start and I expect more of the same here. This always tough veteran runner will be there again today. Others to consider are the hot and cold running threat Roc A By Sunkist, who needs to break in order to contend, and the early threat Cat Ballou, who has been in the money in 7 of her last 9 efforts. (7-8-4-2)

Something For Everyone This Weekend

More great racing than you can shake a stick at this weekend at bestbet Jacksonville. We have something for everyone on tap and you will get your excitement with several different storylines playing out in the feature races. How about a greyhound trying to climb the ladder to grade A undefeated? Yes, we have that! How about races over all three distances? (550,660 & 770) Yes, we have that! How about the track record holder breaking from a great post? Yes, we have that? How about stakes competitors, and winners, heading to post? Yes, we have that! How about talented pups continuing to dominate? Yes, we have that! And how about streaking greyhound trying to win their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in a row? Yes, we have that too this weekend! Let’s take a closer look at the fantastic greyhound races on tap for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and let’s see if we can get you cashing some tickets.

Friday Evening August 25th, 2017

Race 7 – Rested and ready to roll, Flying Riverwood is back, and she gets the 1 box to boot. Riverwood is a strong breaking greyhound that runs her best near, or on, the early lead, and with no speed around her at the start, expect for her to find a way there and hold on to win. Hot off a schooling win, it’s her time to shine. Pressing the leader early and often should be Locopegaso. Posted tough tonight, he will have to overcome it, but it is hard to ignore his 3 grade A wines in his last 5 efforts. Takin The Money also gets a look after back to back wins to get up into grade A in this effort, and don’t sleep on the all out late closing threat Boc’s All I Got. If her clears early, he could be a force at the finish. (1-6-2-7)

Race 10 – Puppy power is back and so is the multi-talented Pure Sensation. Runner up in the bestbet Sprint Classic, Pure Sensation got back on track last time out with a dominate late running win in his last effort. He is as good as anyone at the racetrack, and from the 2 box, I expect another stellar victory. Stealing the lead and making it interesting for the second straight race should be Touch To Much. Touch is all about the break, but she is short late and will be once again tonight. Another good effort and another 2nd place finish. Others to consider include the fast climbing again to grade A threat, 3 wins in 5 starts, Ww’s Sugar Rush, and the ideally posted hot off a win runner Ww Mind At Rest. (2-3-8-1)

Race 11 – Ship in takeover in a tough field of greyhounds. Mac’s Kelly has been on FIRE since arriving at bestbet Jacksonville and has shown no signs of slowing down. This prefect breaker has won 5 of her last 6 effort, including her last 3 in a row in grade A. She is the real deal, and they are going to have to beat her out of the box if they want to win. Trying to do just that will be the phenomenal pup Lk’s Black Gold. With 6 trifectas in a row, including 3 wins and 5 quiniela trips, you know she is going to be right there throughout. From a good post, she could be upset minded tonight. Keep an eye out for the closers too. Ironhound Stakes winner Boc’s Queen Lady can come home late with the best of them, especially from the rail, and puppy Lee Bonafide has used his stretch gears to finish in the trifecta in 6 straight races. Expect more of the same tonight. (4-3-1-2)

Race 15 – Over to 660 for this one and another field that is going to be tough to pick. Sure, everyone will go with the red-hot hand, Lk’s Centuria, but can she hold up again against this talented field? Sure! She has a great break and can win from off the pace as well. With 4 wins in 6 races in grade A, she is the one to beat here. That is unless Barts Risingstar decides to wake up and run. He is the fastest greyhound we have seen at the racetrack over 660 in a mighty long time, and he could do some major damage from a good rail post in this effort. The 2016 bestbet Derby winner, he too could expand tonight on his 3 wins in his last 6 races in grade A. Don’t forget about Lee Trinity either. This greyhound is no slouch herself with 4 straight in the money, including a dominate win from a similar post, and Businessasusual also should get some consideration from the 1 box here. New to A, this closer has 5 money finished in 6 races. A bit over his head? Maybe, but good enough for a spot in the money again tonight. (5-2-3-1)

Saturday Matinee August 26th, 2017

Race 7 – Time to cheer for the climb, and this time around it could happen. Cp’s Nauset Flo has not been beat to the turn, or the wire, in all 4 of her official races at bestbet Jacksonville. This one won’t be as easy as some of the rest, but she still could get the job done if she runs her best. She hasn’t been outside yet, but the 8 box mimics the rail if she can get out on top. Can she win? YES! Will she?? Trying to teach the new dog some old tricks will be the likes of Ww Spearmint, Bambi Brake, and Boc’s Andross. All three know how to win races and find a spot in the money at the wire. They are posted well, can hang tough late, and any of the trio could steal away the show if they can get cleanly to the lead in this effort. If they decide to break, the race might just be for place today.

Race 11 – Another interesting race for the weekend as no one wants to break, but a lot of greyhounds want to close late and win. BGR Benny Da Jet has been on a roll winning 3 of 5 races and just missing in the other two. He can come out close early, but closing is how he gets things done. All the planets are aligning for him right now. Time to win again! It won’t be easy though as the talent climbing closer Jedi Texas Acre is on the scene too. Winning 3 of 5 in grade A, and coming from off the pace to get it done, today might just be another victory at the wire. Posted well, I expect it to be tight at the finish line. You must consider Lindy Booth and Ray Lewis too in this effort. Neither are consistent, but they can break on occasion and compete on the front end. They even win some. Both are posted well and could be surprise winners if it all goes right early on.  (5-6-1-3)

Saturday Evening August 26th, 2017

Race 4 – It might not be a grade A race, but it is a marathon, and everyone loves a marathon race. This one is grade TC, so half C’s and half D’s, but experience over the route trumps class any day for me in these longer races. When you get both at the same time, that is who you need to go with. Riser has run the most marathons as of late and she fared well in both of those starts. She can be a bit short late, but should steal enough early to hold on at the wire for the win. Pressing her will be the former grade A Pat C Da Ta. This greyhound can run this far turn, and if she finds room early, she might just prove who really is best in this effort. Some chase is what I expect, but she could want more late. C Ville Hope also can push the early pace and make the leaders work, only to fade back late for a spot in the money at the wire, and let’s take a peek at Lk’s Whats Next too. This greyhound has gained throughout in the last 2 marathon races he has run in. With a better post here, he might just find a way to factor in the stretch. (2-5-7-3)

Race 7 – This is probably the toughest field on the weekend. When you get a former stakes winner that might not be the one to beat, you know that it is going to be an exciting race to watch and wager on. Here I like the hot hand, so JJ’s Beau Bates it is. This greyhound is coming off a hard-earned win and has been in the money in 6 straight. What is more impressive is that 5 of the 6 where in the quiniela and in each she was a threat throughout. Look for a strong break and for her to stalk early and take over at the wire. Making her case will be Beau Bates kennelmate, and 2016 bestbet Sprint Classic winner, Hey Hey Daddy. Daddy has gotten a little longer in the tooth and might not be as consistent as she used to be, but trust me when I say, the speed is still there. No winning as much as she used to, but she can still make her presence known. One box in hand, she factors from the get go tonight. Others to worry about include the probable early leader Imark Javilin, who has lead at the turn and finished in the trifecta in 4 straight, and the recent 3 races in a row winner Kells Ferrari. (4-1-3-5)

Race 11 – Capping off the evening we gets the fastest greyhound ever to grace the oval at Orange Park. Real Good Feelin not only is the winner of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Classic, she is also the track record holder, and an 87-race winner. Posted well tonight in the 2 box, this early stalker will make her patented move in the second half of this effort for her 3rd victory in a row tonight. If she does want to win she will need to run down Kc’s Todd in the process. I’m sure he is getting tired of it by now, but it is what it is. In his last race he missed the start, found trouble, and was out of it early on, but that won’t happen in back to back starts. Away from the crowd in the 8 box, look for him to rocket to the front end and lead to the stretch again here. Surrendering late, he settles for YET ANOTHER, in the money finish. Both greyhounds will have threat to their running styles in this effort. Ww’s Castle Rock is the other early speeder that will push the pace to late in the race, and the closing part will be handle by super-pup Lee Anson. Anson is the real deal, winning 4 of 5 in grade A, and coming from last in all of those efforts to get the job done at the wire. He will be on the charge again tonight and could make it interesting at the finish line. (2-4-6-8)

Sunday Matinee August 27th, 2017

Race 11 – In this matinee feature it looks like Idaho Kinky is the one to beat. This greyhound is coming in hot off a win and can get the job done from the lead, or from off the pace. He is rounding back into winning form and has been running tough with 8 money finishes in his last 10 efforts. Time for the Britney classic, hit me baby one more time. Making him work early, and probably showing up as the one to catch, will be the rested and ready runner, Makes Adam West. This greyhound is at his best up front, and with the empty box next to him, a big break should be no problem in this effort. He is short late though, so he might need to settle for place at the finish line. Another early speeder, and someone else to maybe push the pace, is Gs Viola. Like most ankle burners, she too is short in the later stages of this race. She is posted well and will look to expand on her 9 of 10 races, including 6 straight, in the money finishes. Finally, is Braska Penelope. Winning might be tough for her, but factoring will not. Posted well, this closer will through her hat in the ring late in this effort. (2-5-8-3)

We’re Back!

We’re Back! I’m glad to report that the bestbet Building, the kennel compound, and the greyhound are all safe and ready to go for this weekend. Kudos to all the hard-working kennel employees that risked themselves to keep all our greyhound safe during the storm.

Now for the good stuff, racing! We have another great weekend ahead of us here at bestbet Jacksonville with feature event over 550, 660 and even 770 yards. Loads of names you have heard of before, and maybe even some new ones, will have you bolting for the windows to cash those winning tickets. Let’s take a closer look and see if we can help you out with your selections.

Friday evening September 15, 2017

Race 7 – Let’s get this party started in the right way! The track record holder, and almost 90 race career winner, Real Good Feelin is posted and ready to go. The 8 box is home, and she will dominate from here. Look for her to break close, and leave this field in her dust late. Pushing the leader early will be the early speeder Mac’s Kelly, but no way she will be able to hang in the stretch. Posted closing super pup, Kells Caribbean could be a big-time threat from the rail, and don’t forget about the recent back to back winner Easi Kassee. (8-4-1-5)

Race 10 – Tough to pick against a greyhound on a streak, so I won’t! Lk’s Black Gold has found the Texas T and struck it rich over her last 5 efforts. Winning all of them in a row, she has commanded fields on the front end and will do so again in this effort. Sure, there are some that might challenge her here, but she finds a way to get the 6 pack. Closing threat Pat C Hash Tag is back in grade A and is always around at the finish line. With 6 straight in the money, you know what you are going to get, and she hopes to put up another gem in back to back races tonight. Flyin Kryptonite is hot off a win, and 3 in her last 5 starts. He could press early, but late he will not be a match for the winners. Don’t forget about Roc A By Sunset either. When the planets are aligned, this girl can flat out fly. That 30.17 best time is not a joke. (1-4-2-6)

Race 12 – In this evenly matched up race, something has to separate you from the rest, and here it is the experience card. Idaho Kinky has been in stakes finals, is a solid grade A, is posted up well, and has enough left late to get the job done. All pluses equal a win. Battling it out up front for early command, and a chance to wire the field will be Pat C Flagship, Lk’s SilverStone, and Dutch Marco. All three has good early speed, and any of the above can be caught from behind on the late lead in any race. They should force the pace throughout in this effort, and in the stretch, is where it is going to get interesting. If they can steal enough early on, any of the three could pull off the upset. (4-2-7-5)

Race 15 – Over to 660 yards for the nightcap and another resurging favorite gets the nod for us here. The former 770 track record holder, Herstal, has found her groove again. Winning 3 straight, including back to back in box to wire fashion, this little girl is on top of her game right now. One of the best closers at the racetrack has been breaking on top, that should be really bad news for this field as well, especially with no big early speeders in the mix. Look for another strong effort. Trying to ruin her night will be closing threats Lee Banshee and Boc’s Libra, and always keep an eye in the rearview mirror for Fiesta Bonker. This greyhound can gain ground on anyone, and if the mood is right, she could make it interesting at the finish line.

Saturday matinee September 16, 2017

Race 11 – Great match-up between some fantastic puppies. BGR Benny Da Jet gets a slight edge over the rest as he has won 3 of his last 5 races in grade A and has been in the cash in 6 straight. He can get it done from the lead, or from off the pace, and has speed to burn. Liking this post, won last time out from here big, he will be tough to beat. Upstart Cp’s Nauset Flo might have something to day about it though. She has been in the quiniela in 8 of her first 9 starts, and that includes 6 victories. Posted well, she will be a force throughout in this effort.  Don’t forget about the others… Speedo Tuxedo might just be the one to catch on the lead if the other greyhounds want to win, and Flying Riverwood is no slouch herself. With 2 wins in 3 races, her early speed will make her a factor from start to finish in this effort. (4-2-7-6)

Saturday evening September 16, 2017

Race 4 – It might not be a grade A race, but everyone who is everyone loves a marathon. Something about the longer distances that really get the crowd going. I also like them as there are spot plays to see in almost all of them here at bestbet Jacksonville. First off, most are mixed grades, like this one, and you get to see some experienced greyhounds over the route take on others that have never run this far. Double dip those things and you get the winner Aston martin in this effort. Last time out in a 770 race, he started from the 7 box, and won by 6 lengths! Enough said! Fist time starter B’s Jackiejoyner looks custom made to run this far and gets a good inside post to start from. Triple grade drop Royal Clarion has too much class to be forgotten about and Pat C Nevada like the middle of the racetrack and could keep on coming the further he runs. (7-2-3-5)

Race 7 – Back to the streaking side as Boc’s Andross is looking for his 4th win in a row in this effort. She has been a woman on a mission as of late with some strong come from behind victories. Tonight, you will probably get more of the same as the lead should be reserved for someone else, but at the wire, we know who will get it done. Duke Rufus might be the best early speed greyhound in this race, but he can be run down late again, just like he did 2 races ago by Andross. Déjà vu time for him again here.  Craigie Warlock has made it up to grade A again and is ideally posted in this effort. Currently in the cash in 6 straight, including a pair of wins, he will be a strong threat again in this effort. Ww’s Holy Grail rounds out the superfecta selections. A good breaker, he should push the pace to the stretch again in this effort. Late he surrenders, but should find a spot in the money at the wire. (7-5-1-3)

Race 11 – Closing is the name of the game in this race as several of the top competitors will be flying up late to try and win the photo at the wire. Nacho’s Newfie gets the slight nod for me in this effort. This solid grade A greyhound has won 2 of his last 3 efforts, and even though the post is not his favorite, he will break well and be close enough to hold on for the score. Pressuring the leader late will be the Irondhound Winner Boc’s Queen Lady. Almost midtrack she will rack up yet another in the money finish in this effort, and if she can get around close enough at the start, she could take home the top spot at the finish line. Talented up, Jeti Texas Acre cannot be forgotten about in this effort. With 12 quinieals in 19 starts, you know she can run, and this solid grade A is not slowing down at all. In her last 6 races, she has been in the quiniela 4 times. From a good midtrack post, she too could be upset minded at the wire. Finally, C Ville Kayelyn. Another stalking closer who has been in the cash 6 straight, she too will be a superfecta force tonight. (8-3-5-7)

Race 15 – Back to 660 and back to the dynamic battle between two of the best at the racetrack over this distance. Lk’s Centuria, winner of back to back races and 3 of her last 4 efforts, and Barts Risingstar, who won the 2017 bestbet Derby, and can unleash fury whenever he clears close to the leaders. The edge here as to go to Centuria as she has been breaking well, gets a good post, and has no one to deal with early on. Don’t count out Risingstar though. He can close with the best of them has steal away wins at the wire, but the post will make him work extra hard in this effort. Others to consider include DQ’s Hustle It Upgirl from a great rail post position, along with Super closer, Super C Amy from a great outside starting box. (3-7-1-8)

Sunday matinee September 17, 2017

Race 11 – An evenly matched up event that might play out a few different ways at the finish line. My way is that Kells Ferrari will take the checkered flag. This solid grade A greyhound can get after it early on and has won several starts in grade A. Here I expect him to make the lead and hold strong late to win. Lk’s Freestar is a strong paced greyhound that should be pushing the leader from start to finish. She loves this post position, winning last time out in the 3 box, and might even have a shot at stealing away the win in this effort. Ww’s Castle Rock needs to rebound after a tough trip last time out. She can break on occasion and could be close to the pace as well in this effort. L’s Sum Dog is the closer of the bunch and will be making up ground on the leaders late in this race. He has been in the money in 6 straight trips and looks to continue that streak in this race. If he can get into the conversation early on, he will have an outside shot at an upset at the wire. (8-3-7-6)

Redemption Stakes Round 1

The Redemption Stakes kicks off this week as the top 16 greyhounds at the racetrack will take part of 2 races on Monday evening, October 2nd, and the top 4 finishers from each race will move on to the finals this Saturday evening, October 7th, at bestbet Jacksonville.

Loads of talent grace these two races and it will be a couple of great chances to watch, wager, and win on our best once again. Let’s take a closer look at the fields and see if we can start out your week right with come winning tickets.

Redemption Stakes Round 1

Monday evening October 2nd, 2017

Race 7 – A great race here features the hottest greyhound at the racetrack, Lk’s Black Gold. Winning 8 of her last 9 starts, this little girl is a monster on the front end and can wire any field when she gets her nose in front early on. If that weren’t enough of a class edge, she gets the one box to boot in this effort. She loves the rail and has posted up wins in her last three efforts wearing the red blanket. She is going to be tough to beat tonight. Trying to make her work at least will be the likes of the solid grade A, and no slouch himself either, runner Bgr Benny Da Jet. Benny has really come out well as of late and can dominate fields on his own when he gets clear early on. Unlike Black Gold, he is just not about the early speed and can come from off the pace to challenge and win races. If these two lock up early, it is going to be a great battle to the wire. Another greyhound to consider in this effort include the rest and ready to go, former stakes finalists, Perfect Pitch. Coming off a win she is back in form, and with a good post, could challenge as well. Don’t forget about Pat C Hash Tag either. This solid grade A threat is a whole different greyhound from the rail, and that is just where he is starting this one from. He is a solid chaser, that can come on a bit late in races, and blue is his favorite color. Last time out from this post, a near 6 length win in 30.51… (1-7-3-2)

Race 10 – Not to be outdone by the star power of the 7th race, the 10th race saves the Track Record Holder, and winner of the 2017 bestbet Sprint Stakes, Real Good Feelin. This greyhound is as fast as she wants to be and can destroy fields of greyhounds as she gallops around the racetrack. She loves the edges and could break free from the 3 box again in this effort. She doesn’t need to be in the lead early on, she has tremendous closing speed, and can win for fun from well of the lead in any race. She will most likely not be in the front early here, loads of early speed around her, but she will use that room to get into position and take home the W at the finish line. She will not have it easy though. Former stakes finalists Boc’s Andross is also in this field, and she is on top of her game right now. Winning 4 of her last 6 efforts, and supplying loads of early speed, she could be the one to beat in this race. She loves the outside part of the racetrack, and might even be able to hold on late for the win if she can steal enough early on. This one could come down to a photo finish. Early the room will be crowded as not only Andross will be vying for the top spot as they head to the wire. Flanking Real Good Feeling will be a pair of great early speeders that will want to find the lead and try and hold on for a spot in the money at the finish line. Lorine Of Ruckus has not been beaten to the turn in 5 straight races, and tonight that trend will continue. The bad news is that she pays for it late, as she is short, short, short in the stretch. She will have big girls chasing her late and you can expect that lead to disappear in the stretch. Watch out for Kells Ferrari too. This guy has not finished out of the money in 6 straight trips, and that does include a win in grade A 6 starts ago. He has a tremendous rush to the turn and will be throwing his hat into the rink as they round the corner down the backside. He too is short late and will do well to hold on in the money at the finish line. (3-7-2-4)

Don’t forget we will be running the finals with the top 4 finishers in each race on Saturday evening October 7th at bestbet Jacksonville. In conjunction with the finals, we will feature our fane favorite 2nd chance drawings, where you can turn your losing Orange Park tickets into a cool $20 voucher is you name is selected throughout the evening.

Another stakes final is on the horizon here at bestbet Jacksonville. The 2017 edition of the Redemption stakes will run on Saturday evening, October 7th, 2017 in the 11th race in conjunction with our fan favorite second chance drawings. Two fields of greyhounds went to battle in round number one and the top four finishers from each race make it into this final round race. Some old and some new names flank the ranks, but you can be sure of one thing, this is going to be an exciting final to watch, wager, and win on here at bestbet. Let’s take a closer look at the finals and see if we can get you cashing some tickets.

Finals of the Redemption Stakes

Saturday evening October 7th, 2017

Race 11 – Normally stakes races are a good mix of the best greyhounds at the racetrack, just like this one is, but every once in a while, you get an outlier to that. Tonight, is one of those occasions! Overall this is a solid field of grade A greyhounds and you can make a case for several of them to have a good shot to win on most nights, but tonight, there is only 1 winner as I see it! Yes, I did! The race here is for place. Why? Well the track record holder, Real Good Feelin, drew her best box. Sure, she has a chance to get beat, all greyhounds do in any race, but the signs are that she will come out on top in this effort. In her last 15 starts from the 8 box over 550 yards, she has won 13 times and she has never finished out of the quiniela. More importantly, she has won her last 6 races in a row wearing the tiger stripes, and I don’t expect that streak to stop in this effort. Granted she will probably not be in the lead at the break, but 3rd will be close enough, for her to dominate the second half of this race. Let watch her take home yet another win, and another stakes title, as she marches up the all-time win list toward 100. (Currently she has 91 WINS). Trying to ruin her night will be the early speeder alongside of her in this effort. Recent superstar Lk’s Black Gold is no slouch herself as she has posted up 8 wins in her last 10 races in box to wire fashion. She is extremely quick at the start and can wire fields on the lead all the way to the finish line. She can be short at times when she can’t get around cleanly, but has proven tough to be on occasion late in the race. Here even with a lead turning home, she will be no match for the raw power of Real Good Feelin in the stretch. Also pushing the pace is the impressive pup Craigie Warlock. Rocketing up to grade A as of late, this pup has put up back to back wins and three scores in his last 5 efforts against the best at the racetrack. Another breaking threat, he is not quite as short in the stretch as he counterpart in this race, but still doesn’t have the gears to run with Real Good Feelin in the open. If he gets the front end, he could make it at least interesting till the stretch. The other greyhound to not forget about in this race was the other first round winner, Kells Ferrari. All revved up and ready to go, Kells Ferrari is early speed greyhound by nature that has not missed the money in his last 7 races in a row. Winning just 2 of those starts, he needs to show up more consistent at the break, but if he gets running room to rush the turn, he too could play a factor in just who wins this race tonight. (8-6-7-4)

Orange Park Derby Round 1

Another great stake race is upon us, and this time we get to go over the longer distance. The 2017 edition of the $35,000 Orange Park Derby will take place over the 660-yard course and feature 40 of the best routers at the racetrack. As always, we will run 4 rounds and a final with cut downs taking place after the 3rd and 4th round races. Everything starts this Monday, October 23rd, and the finals will run on Saturday November 11th at bestbet Jacksonville. Let’s take a closer look at the races and see if we can start the week out right with some winners.

Monday October 23, 2017

Round 1 of the $35,000 Orange Park Derby

Race 7 – Going out on a bit of a limb, but you must take your shots sometimes. Aintgunnawasteit has been in stakes races before, and despite the lines showing, can really run when loose from the inside post positions. Looking for a wakeup call here. Trying to ruin his night will be the early threat, and possible pacesetter, Lee Trinity. Late there will also be contenders. Dutch Casey might be down in grade, but has enough close to threaten, and Good Luckchigger will hit his best stride in the stretch to challenge at the wire. (2-5-7-6)

Race 9 – Track record speed is what it takes to win this race, and that is just what Herstal possess. Herstal was the former 770-yard track record holder, but she is not as one trick pony. She has fared well over 660 too and has competed in stakes over this distance as well. Being a close by nature, she will win this one, like most at 660, from off the pace. Getting to the lead will be Ww Great Wall, but along with Herstal, other chasers will be able to get to her before the wire. Solid A, Lee Banshee should also be considered, along with the late trying factor that is Jack’s Jet Speed. (4-5-6-2)

Race 11 – The best bet of the stakes comes in the 11th race as the best 660-yard greyhound draws a favorable post and a favorable field in round number 1. Lk’s Centuria is the best router at the racetrack and can frankly, DOMAINTE, races when she gets her nose in front early on. The post helps her out here too. She loves to break from the inside and has back to back wins from the blue box. Out and gone, she makes this look easy. Pushing the pace early should be the converted sprinter Kells Pretender, but she will not be a match for the rest late. Ironhound champ, Boc’s Queen Lady can go this far and should win the best of the rest title at the wire, but don’t forget about Critic Choice either. This solid grade a can close over this distance and should get room early as she followed Centuria from the box. (2-8-3-5)

Race 13 – This race should be the most contested of any in round number 1. You must love top greyhounds going at it head to head and here you get just that. B’s Valiantnight has won 4 straight, and 5 of 6, and should be the one to beat again in this effort. The post might be the only hindrance in this effort. He will be pressured though as Lk’s Fanciful is a handful herself. She has won 3 of her last 6 races and has been in the quiniela in 5 of 6 starts. With enough late to run down a leader, this could get interesting at the finish line. Dutch Aces Wild should also be coming on at the end of this race to threaten, and keep an eye out for Gs Humongous. This converted sprinter might not be able to last all the way to the wire for the win, but he will be pushing the pace to the far turn and could end up in the money at the finish line. (4-7-2-3)

Race 15 – The last race features a good match -up as well between two hot greyhounds. Clearly Ww Jax Straw is the one to beat in this effort. With back to back wins in grade A showing, and 3 in her last 4 efforts, she is the one to upset in this race. She loves the rail, and gets it here, and should have enough early to wire the field on the lead again tonight. She will be challenged though. Rt Banana Foster might be up in grade here, but she has been just missed in back to back efforts to Jax Straw. Expect for more of the same in this race as these two heavy-weights battle it out on the front end. Solid grade A converted sprinter Dutch Dalton should not be overlooked either. With just one trip over the route, he will only get better and he is bred to run this far. Pat C Typhoon could be a factor as well. Another solid a sprint will get another try at 660, and as of late, all Pat C greyhounds can run any distance. (2-4-7-3)

The field will remain intact for round two as all 5 races will show up once again on Friday evening October 27th. Don’t miss out on the best routers at the racetrack here at bestbet Jacksonville.

Raines Rules in Round 1

0
0

The Lester Raines kennel took over the commanding spot in qualifying as they posted up win in 2 of the 5 races on the card, including the biggest effort of them all in the 7th race. Hitting the lid, Lee Trinity stole away a mile ahead of the rest of the field, and come the stretch, he would need every inch to get the W at the wire. Watching his lead dwindle down the stretch, he still crossed with a slim margin, a length and a half, in the fastest time in qualifying 37.91 seconds. Kudos to Dutch Casey as he gained throughout and made it interesting at the finish line. Super C Amy gave her all late as she outphotoed Cbj Sonner for the final spot in the trifecta at the wire.

Raines other winner came in the last race, the 15th on the card, as Nizy showed that she might have found a new home over the added distance. Breaking quickly and taking over early as expected was Ww’s Jax Straw. Stretching the margin early and maintaining to the far turn and into the stretch, she looked like she might just live up to her favorite title, but Nizy was not done yet. After chasing all the way in second, Nizy found some gears late and overpowered the leader in the stretch. Drawing away late, winning by 3, this converted router could be a tough out in the stakes. Ww’s Jax Straw finished 2nd after a game front running trip, followed by the solid battling Dutch Dalton in 3rd and Pat C Typhoon in 4th.

The Lashmet kennel also posted up a win in round 1, but it was not by the greyhound that everyone thought would win. Lk’s Fanciful had to give everything to get the win in the 13th race on the card. Solid grade A sprinter, Gs Humongous, bolted from the starting box and took over instant control of the race. Proving game on the lead, he held his slim margin down the backside, but the closers came a running in the far turn and down the stretch it was anyone’s game. Everyone dug in deep and tit was a tight finish at the wire. Lk’s Fanciful proved best in the photo by a nose, Humongous was denied at the wire and had to settle for place as the closing Like A Boss was just a half a length off in 3rd. Finishing out the superfecta was B’s Valiantnight, who ran a monster race to finish just a couple of lengths back at the finish line.

Race 11 went to the Jim Blanchard kennel as the former stakes champ, Ironhound Stakes, Boc’s Queen Lady took advantage of the trouble in the turns to score a strong victory in round 1. Easily breaking to the lead in this race was Lk’s Centuria, but that front running place would not last that line. The lock of round one saw he win go up in flames as converted Sprinter Kells Pretender cut her off in the escape turn and block her again in the far turn. Shuffling to last, she would never recover. So, the closers were the ones to benefit here. Weaving through traffic and circling the rivals in the far turn, Boc’s Queen Lady came from way back to take over control at the far turn and cruise home for the victory. Also taking advantage was Hustle It Upgirl in 2nd, and Dutch Ranger in 3rd. Previously mentioned leader Kells Pretender held on for the final spot in the superfecta at the finish line.

Finally, was the former track record holder, Herstal, posted up a win in race number 9 for the Clear Lakes Kennel. Talk about a competitive event? The top 5 finishers were all within 3.5 lengths at the wire and each had a shot to take home the win in the stretch. Breaking on top and setting the pace was Ww Great Wall. Pushing the lead to 2 lengths early, she held tough all the way to the far turn before surrendered to the 770 monster Herstal. There she was passed and it took the gas right out of her tank. The closers would all go by her late and she will have to settle for the first spot out of the money at the wire. Herstal would not get the easy win as she put on a closing clinic and held tough all the way to the wire. Stretching out her lead, she crossed by a length and half over the fast closing threat Businessasusual in 2nd. Third was another closer Lee Banshee, and Royal Clarion took care of the early leader as well late and completed the ranks of the superfecta.

Round 2 of the stakes will return all 5 races as the competitors search for more points and chance to move on to the quarter-finals this Friday Evening, October 27th at bestbet Jacksonville.  Grab your friends, make you plans, and don’t miss out of the best routers at the racetrack in round two of the $35,000 Orange Park Derby.
